Perennial Ryegrass
Lolium perenne L. - Tetraploid Italian

Description:

A very aggressively growing perennial ryegrass. It can be under seeded to cereals but we do not recommend you under seed with it. Since the variety is so aggressively growing it can over take the cereals if the cereal harvest is delayed for bad weather etc. Thus making harvest of the cereal crop near impossible.

However, Ajax is excellent for seeding alone for pasture or plow down. When used for plow down, it does not need to be clipped because it does not produce seed heads the first year.

Seeding Rate:

We recommend a seeding rate of 10-15 lbs./acres for Tetraploid varitities because the seed is bigger than Lemtal and smaller than the annuals therefore it is usually sown in the cereal box of most drills, although some farmer do use the grass seed box. We fertilize Ajax at a the same rate of 210 lbs./acre of 22-11-11 and top dress at 100 lbs. of 34-0-0.
